Course Overview

The course is intended to ensure that trainees are competent to take charge of survival craft and rescue boats during emergency situations, organize survivors, operate survival and communication equipment, and apply correct procedures to safeguard life at sea until rescue or recovery is effected.

Target Audience
• Deck officers • Engineering officers • Ratings and other seafarers designated to take charge of or assist in the launching, operation, and recovery of survival craft and rescue boats • Personnel assigned responsibilities for abandon-ship and survival craft operations on board
Prerequisites
• Have reached 18 years old • Have completed an approved seagoing service not less than twelve months (12 months). This period must be registered on the seaman’s book and/or company experience letter (s).
