PMDS has issued Technical Circular TC-17-26, together with the Notification of ISM Code deficiencies on PMDS ships (10/26), establishing the applicable reporting and follow-up procedures for deficiencies that may affect the effective implementation of the ISM Code and the ship’s Safety Management System (SMS).

In line with IACS PR17 – Reporting on deficiencies possibly affecting the implementation of the ISM Code on board, PMDS surveyors are required to identify and report relevant technical, operational, documentation and other deficiencies that may indicate weaknesses in the effective implementation of the SMS onboard.

Timely reporting and appropriate follow-up are essential to identify potential SMS failures, prevent recurrence and support effective implementation of the ISM Code.
