The course is intended to ensure that trainees are competent to apply principles of marine environmental awareness, including the prevention of pollution, proper handling and disposal of waste, compliance with MARPOL and other applicable environmental regulations, efficient use of resources, and the implementation of environmentally responsible practices on board ship, in order to minimize environmental impact during normal operations and emergency situations.
