The course is intended to ensure that trainees are competent to safely and effectively use Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) for voyage planning and monitoring, maintaining situational awareness, managing chart data and system settings, responding to alarms, and supporting safe navigational decision-making in both normal and emergency situations, in accordance with the STCW Convention, 1978, as amended.
