The course is intended to ensure that trainees are competent to apply measures for passenger safety, cargo safety and hull integrity, including monitoring and control of passenger spaces, securing and handling of cargo, stability awareness, watertight integrity, and effective response to emergencies, in order to maintain the safety of the ship and persons on board
