Course Overview

The course is intended to ensure that trainees are competent to manage the operation, maintenance, and safety of shipboard machinery and engineering systems, exercise effective leadership and decision-making in the engine department, and ensure compliance with international regulations and company procedures related to safety, environmental protection, and efficient ship operation.

Requirements

Target Audience
• Experienced Officers in Charge of an Engineering Watch who hold the required sea service (as applicable at the Maritime Administration applying to) and intend to serve as Second Engineer Officers on ships of over 750kW. • Experienced Second Engineer Officers (as applicable at the Maritime Administration applying to) who intend to serve in the capacity of Chief Engineer on ships of over 750kW. • Second Engineer Officers and Chief Engineer who require mandatory management-level training updates for the revalidation of their certification as Second Engineer Officers and Chief Engineer.
Prerequisites
Must have completed the following courses: • Use of leadership and managerial skills • Advanced Training in Fire Fighting • Survival Craft and Rescue Boat, other than Fast Rescue Boat • High Voltage installation – Management level
